Professional Development

If you are having trouble playing a DVD on your laptop, there is suppose to be a disc that came with the laptop that will install the program you need.

My question for the week is about professional development books. One of the books I was interested in was Teaching With Intention by Debbie Miller, I haven't read this but I love Debbie Miller. I also am spot reading Never Work Harder Than Your Students & Other Principles of Great Teaching. Would you rather we all work on the same book ,or would you like to be able to choose from several titles? If you would like to choose, what are your suggestions? Also remember we will need facilitators for each book study. Are you willing to facilitate? With all these questions I guess I am making up for the weeks I didn't post!

  1. Well, I thought that you might have been a bit overwhelmed with the comments from before. I think that it is a great idea for us to be able to choose form a variety of titles. We all have different professional development needs and should be reading information that we feel will help us become stronger and more effective teachers. For some, if it is not an area of need or interest, they may not get as much out of it. I will have to get back to you with title suggestions. Yes I would be willing to faciliate a study. Would the titles be available to us for the summer break? I think that I have answered all of the questions. THANKS

  2. If I had a choice, I would like to choose the book that would interest me, or benefit my teaching in some way. Both the books listed above sound interesting to me. I would facilitate a study, or partner with someone else. I am with Chatta. I would need the book over the summer also!

  3. I would have to look at the books to decide between those two. Having a choice would be nice. If there were several books to choose from and we met in smaller groups, it might be more meaningful/useful.

  4. I would also like to choose a book so that I can read something that is specific to my prof. dev. needs!
