Technology wishes - Question for the week of April 6

If the administration could support your wish for technology in your classroom for the 2009-2010 school year, what would you wish for?

  1. My first wish, the one that is the most pressing, would be to have more than one working computer available to my students. We miss out on some good programs or are not able to spend as much time with some great wesites because we are limited with only one computer. Please know that I am greatful to have the computer that I have. My second wish, I would love to have this, would be a smart board. There are so many things that we could do with a smart board in the classroom. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

  2. My wish for the classroom would be to have an Elmo in my room along with a smart board. I would also love to have a projector mounted to the ceiling to have more space in the room. When I have been able to use the elmo in my room, my students love it. They are able to see better and I can do more with it than the overhead. The smart board would help with keeping everything interactive with the students. Also having wireless internet in my classroom would be awesome! It is hard to do whole group activities when your computer has to be stationed in one area for the internet connection.

  3. This is a good question. I am hoping some of these wishes come true. For starters, I need more computers for the students. I only have two (some teachers are lucky enough to have 4 or 5). One from the school and one I have brought from my personal home. We also need more software for the students to be provided. A smart board would be amazing. What a wonderful way to teach the students and to keep their interest! I have sat through meetings for these, knowing that they are simply a wish and not our reality! Now, down to what I would LOVE to have. I believe that we should each have an ELMO. We could bring so much information to our students. I know there is one at our school, but it is never available and I find it pretty much impossible to be on a waiting list. I believe that we should have access to an ELMO whenever we need it. However, I would enjoy having the most basic of technology needs...wireless internet! If I could get wireless in my room, it would allow me to bring my laptop from home and use it in my classroom. There are so many possibilities. Let's try to make some of them a reality! Here's hoping!

  4. I would LOVE to have a mounted projector in the Library. I could: demonstrate how to use the catalog (this is a skill 2nd graders are supposed to be familiar with); show short video clips of authors and books from the Internet; and use some really neat online programs to create short stories with classes. Using one on a cart is difficult for several reasons: the library is round, outlets in the floor are randomly positioned and not all of them work, positioning a projector to be attached to the computer and aimed at the projector screen is incredibly awkward. I could use it with classes and it could be used during large meetings too.

  5. I would definetly want more computers for my classroom in a "computer center". i could let groups go play literacy games instead of only one person. Also, since we are "wishing" I would love to have a projector mounted in my ceiling and an ELMO of my own! :) i love using technology and if it were this accessible, i could use it every day, multiple times a day.

  6. I would love to have an elmo in my room. I am also fortunate enough to be the "keeper" of the laptop/projector. I love this. It is very easy for me to download things onto the laptop or to my flash drive and then present it in powerpoint form to the students! They have loved this. I also went to an interactive whiteboard training two weeks ago at the COB. It was amazing the things that you can do with your class. What I thought was cool is that they have small boards that we could use instead of the huge smartboards. These boards were only $295.00 but the drawbacks were that you would need wireless internet for this.

  8. I just wanted to add that I LOVE the laptop and projector! It has been so beneficial to my students and me! We use it all the time for power points and other things. One thing that I wish we had was internet so that I could show united streaming videos from the laptop. Also, the DVD player is not enabled on the laptop? Can we see if Mrs. Kuykendall can get these working? I could use it a lot more if the DVD player worked and if it could link up to an internet signal . Just a thought! :)
